Our mission is to teach authentic Japanese culture
Tatami is Japanese original “carpet” which was born and continues to be used in our house to meet the living with our humid and soon-changing climates.
However, it is now decreasing of its produce due to more westernized life style, and cheaper Chinese made Tatami.
“Komatsu Igusa” used to be with 1400 Tatami farmers back in 1950’s, but now there is only one.
It is in danger of losing this products and culture if we don’t provide any source.

Komatsu Igusa has history of 550 years. “Igusa” product in Komatsu has been started in 1462; Kiyouemon Kamamitani has imported Igusa which have been grown in Ohno-Village, Nomi-gun.
